Paxtel values the privacy of our subscribers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information in compliance with the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and other applicable regulations.

We may collect the following information when you use Paxtel services:

  • Personal Information: Name, national ID/passport number, date of birth, gender, photograph, and address (required for SIM registration/KYC).
  • Contact Information: Phone number, email address, and physical address.
  • Service Usage Data: Call details, SMS records, internet/data usage, and approximate location information generated on our network.
  • Financial Information: Payment records, billing information, and mobile money or card payment details.
  • Device Information: SIM card details, device identifiers (IMEI), and device type.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used for:

  • • Registering and activating SIM cards.
  • • Providing and maintaining telecommunications services (voice, SMS, data, mobile money).
  • • Billing, invoicing, and payment processing.
  • • Complying with regulatory obligations (such as UCC SIM registration and lawful intercept).
  • • Detecting and preventing fraud or unauthorized use.
  • • Improving service quality and developing new products.
  • • Sending service-related updates and (where you consent) promotional offers.

3. Information Sharing

We may share subscriber information only in limited cases:

  • Regulators and Authorities: With the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), law enforcement, or other authorities as required by law.
  • Service Providers and Partners: With trusted vendors providing billing, IT, roaming, or customer care services.
  • Legal Requirements: Where disclosure is necessary to comply with court orders or regulations.
  • Business Restructuring: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of Paxtel operations.

We do not sell subscriber information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Retention

  • • Subscriber records are stored securely in line with industry standards.
  • • Data will only be kept as long as necessary for providing services or as required by law.
  • • Certain records may be retained for up to 5 years as per regulatory requirements.
  • • After retention periods, data will be securely deleted or anonymized.

5. Your Rights

As a subscriber, you have the right to:

  • • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • • Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • • Object to processing of your data for specific purposes.
  • • Withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.
  • • Request deletion of personal data where legally permissible.

We implement strict security safeguards including:

  • • Encryption of sensitive data.
  • • Access controls and restricted staff access.
  • • Monitoring systems to prevent unauthorized access.

However, no system is completely secure. Subscribers should protect their SIM cards, devices, and personal account details.
