This is a new service that enables PaxSente subscribers to pay for goods and services using PaxSente instead of exchanging cash for such purchases.

The service enables both parties to immediately confirm these proximity payments via text message (e-receipt) that is sent to both subscriber and seller of the goods/service.
A merchant is any business out there that accepts PaxSente as a means of payment for their goods and services. Pharmacies, supermarkets, bars and restaurants plus our local duuka's among others are potential merchants.
To become a Merchant, one must be involved in any legitimate trade, fill in the merchant application form and provide the necessary documentation required of the entity/individual. On successful application, merchants are assigned merchant numbers and Quick Response (QR) Codes by Paxtel and these are displayed in the merchant outlets.
All PaxSente payments are free to the Subscriber. Merchants will however pay a small commission to Paxtel to facilitate the payment.
Merchants can access the funds by pushing the money to the banks via their merchant mobile menu on their phone or place a standing order with Paxtel to send money to their preferred bank.

To access money via an Agent, merchants can also dial *100# on the merchant phone and enter the amount and PIN. The Agent will then dial *100#, select Merchant Dispersion, and enter the Merchant, Secret Code and PIN.
Once a merchant has been assigned a merchant number/ID or QR code, PaxSente customers can pay from their phones in two ways:

USSD code — dial *185#, enter the merchant number/ID, amount and your PIN to complete a payment. You can also add reference details like an invoice number. Merchants can also initiate a transaction on their SIM menu; the subscriber only enters their PIN to complete it.

Scan-to-Pay — scan the QR code displayed at the merchant outlet, then enter the amount and your PaxSente PIN.
Whereas a customer is charged when sending money, paying for goods and services using PaxSente is free for the customer/subscriber.
PaxSente transactions are instant and both the customer and the merchant are notified via SMS with details of the transaction.
  • Using PaxSente is free for the customer.
  • Merchants can hold up to UGX 20M on their PaxSente merchant wallets.
  • The costs and risks associated with cash, like robberies and theft, are limited with PaxSente.
  • PaxSente transactions are fast, secure and instant.
You can buy, swap, upgrade or replace SIM cards at Paxtel service centres countrywide. Customers are required to present:
  • An original National ID (for Ugandans)
  • Or a valid Passport (for foreigners)
  • Or a Refugee ID (for refugees)
Please also note:
  1. New SIM cards cost only UGX 2,000.
  2. SIM card swaps are only UGX 1,500 and require a valid police letter no older than 21 days.
  3. 4G SIM card upgrades or replacements are UGX 1,500 and require your current SIM card.
Note: SIM cards will only be activated after verification by NIRA.
With download speeds of between 2Mbps and 100Mbps, Paxtel LTE will change the way you experience the internet, forever. You can download large files in no time at all, stream music videos or HD movies without buffering and upload pictures without delay.

Paxtel currently offers various devices and the Paxtel 4G LTE data dongle that are all compatible with our 4G network.
eSIM (Embedded SIM) is a technology that eliminates the need for physical SIM cards. Embedded directly into your device, it allows for easy switching between service providers and offers a more compact solution without compromising performance.
eSIM-compatible devices include iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, iPad Pro (2018) and later, and Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
Dial *100# and follow the prompts.
  1. Visit any Paxtel shop and ask an agent to load any amount of airtime from as low as UGX 250.
  2. Dial *185# to load airtime using PaxSente, or use the PaxTel app.
Advantages include a compact design for sleeker devices, easy carrier switching without physical SIM swapping, enhanced security features safeguarding your data, and remote programming to activate carrier profiles remotely.
Check compatibility by dialing *#06#. Visit a PaxTel service center with your original National ID and our agents will guide you through the swap. A QR code will be generated, which you scan to activate your eSIM.
To access the internet on your phone, it must first be configured with the appropriate internet settings.

Automatic setup
  1. Dial *100#.
  2. You will then receive the internet settings for your phone.
